CA33 J K 11-13
Continued leveling across at 53 cm. in J K 11 and 12. In the NW corner of J 12 a large fragment of iron slag was recovered at a depth of 56-52 cm. The outline of the pit continues in the baulk on the west and under a tree on the east. Fro these reasons it was decided to excavate from teh northern limit of the feature in J 14, 15, find the limits and follow them south, up the slope. Due to the large amount of stumps in J 14 troweling was impossible in the upper levels an a pick had to be employed.
The soil within J K 11-14 is a dark brown. It is friable but contains large amounts of roots and stones in the upper humus layer. Area J/K 19 excavated to 75 cm.
