A.M.

Work was initiated in clearing the backfill form the Southeast Building. First a number of column bases were cleared to allow access to the floor surrounding them. Most appeared to be in fir ondition although the base with the tile in V/64-65 was wexhibited a good deal of wear to the tile. It might be noted that there were a number of stacked pantiles discovered here originally but were damaged by vandals over the 1983-84 winter. In general the floor showed significant root damage from continued cleaning and covering which allowed grass to penetrate it. Small amounts of tile, plaster and a little ceramic were recovered.

P.M.

Work continued as above over the floor. Scattered tiles were collected. In the balk at L/86 a large bronze headed stud with an attached iron nail was found.
