Section C To find the continuation of the NS wall of agger 1, a cut

2.65m long was taken in the western part of this section. A wall, with a decided slope to the west, was uncovered. It appeared to be made of one course, 1.30m wide, and on the west, at a slightly lower level, there are stones extending another 0.40m in width. Outside the wall, to the west, there are a few tiles. The interior of the room thus formed is 6.15m wide (EW).

Tiles began to be lifted in the southern strip (1.80m wide) of the section, leaving a 0.50m band as a "dike"next to the southern EW crosswall in section D.

Section D Tiles continued to be lifted. A 0.40m wide strip in the northern part of this section was left beside the southern EW crosswall.

Found: several fragments of lateral simas (#30A, AG2D, 19680748, 19670756), including cornice, parts of a water spout and a painted rosette; piece of painted pottery; fragment of horserace frieze (#30, 19680854); 2 fragments of a (griffin?) wing; several "cut-out" pieces of terracotta; parts of a ridgepole tile; & some oddly-shaped pieces. Tile fragments were larger than in agger 1 and agger 2A.
