Trench Layout
The boundaries of CA 73 were laid out by a baseline extended from 39 S, initially laid out using a baseline shot with the transit off the grid point PC 1 and a second baseline extending from it at a ninety degree angle. Using triangulation a two by three meter trench was established with the northwest corner at a location of 63E/34S.
The coordinates of the four corners of CA 73 at the start of the 2012 season are as follows:
NW corner: 63E/34S
NE corner: 66E/34S
SE corner: 66E/36S
SW corner: 63E/36S
A datum point with an absolute elevation of 27.83 meters was established on a tree along the eastern wall of CA 73 and shared with CA 72.
