Work continued cleaning the floor for 2.5 hours until rain forced cancellation. Only a few very worn fragments of plaster and terracotta were found. Pichetti were begun to be laid out to realign the trench with the architectÂ’s drawing.
P.M.
Despite considerable rain during the morning work was continued in the eastern meters where backfill was placed ove plastic. The rest of the floor was much too wet to work on. Including washout around the stump in and along the northern balk about ½ box of very battered tile and plaster bits were recovered as well as a few fragments of worn, miscellaneous ceramic including a small piece of redware base.
Two other areas in T-26 were mapped out and work begun. Meters immediately to the
west of are being excavated separately from this eastern end of the southeast building. Additionally, meters combining areas in T-25 and T-26 are also being excavated separately from this book. For additional information please see A. Carpino Book I 1987 and M. Wilcox Book I 1987 for the aforementioned areas, respectively.
