S-U/57-58 was cleaned down to 80 cm level.  Coarseware fragments similar to those found Wednesday, all with burned inner sides, continue to be found.  These are probably crucible fragments.

This area continues to produced quantities of assorted pottery.  Two pieces are particularly noteworthy: a bucchero base and a creamware fragment with handle base.  NEgligible amounts of tile and plaster were found.  Much bone was found.  Bronze: ____ piece.

V-W/55-58 was cleaned.  Work in this area continues to reveal a strong plaster layer and rock pack.  This rock pack is roughly 30 cm below the rocks which protrude from the baulk in U (see diagram on p. 29).  Some assorted pottery came from this area.
