Bone Summary
Initially, little bone was recovered within CB-61. The first notable discovery of bone within the trench occurred in Locus 3 : a potentially decontextualized context with a fragment of burnt bone, (p.67). In later, more secure contexts such as Loci 8 , 9 and 10 , the presence of bone increased significantly, with the highest percentage of bone coming from Loci 8 (34%) and 10 (31%). A potentially diagnostic recovery of bone was in Locus 10 , with a full profile fragment (p. 199). The Baulk Trim also revealed the third highest concentration with 19% of the osteological assemblage, although decontextualized.
The progression of bone presence throughout the trench is clear, with fragments of bone first emerging from Locus 5 , and the most fragments of bone overall from Loci 8 and 10 . This increase in presence is notable, but not enough to make any claim as to the cause.
No bone from CB-61 was cataloged.
