Daily Log

Mon. July 12

Section A-3 was excavated in order to uncover a tile fall (see diagram). This particular area was packed with a variety of tile chunks, cover tiles, bucchero fragments and impasto bowl rims. An iron dagger was found beneath the tiles, near the northern upper building foundation wall of Rect. 2. The soil is heavily intermixed with carbon and small bits of plaster.

Section B-6 was uncovered in order to define a small tile fall. A large piece of cover tile was unearthed. A small spindle whorl and a fragment of fine ware pottery with traces of paint were found in this area.
