Continued to sift throuh Locus 2; troweled down to Locus 3 in the area. Locus 3 is a much more yellow soil with some white inclusions in it. Photographs and elevations taken for Locus 3.

The eastern baulks of the area as wasll as the western area near the tree were trimmed. One piece of very worn terracotta was discovered while trimming the baulks. Began to pick throug the soil of Locus 3. It is a very yellow - white soil with some small white inclusions (calcite?) as well as some small rocks. The stump was removed was removed from the eastern baulk (which caused it to be undercut a few centimeters).

Continued to pick through Locus 3. The soil continues to a golden yellow - white to tan color with inclusions of white calcite/limestone. Roots continue to penetrate the soil, as do rocks, which have become somewhat flatter and varied in size. Continued to lightly pick the soil, now sifting it over the wheelbarrow. No material is bein recovered from the soil - it remains yellow-white-tan in appearence, with a grey color near the center of the trench. Soil is sandy, flakes easily. Closing elevations taken for the day
