In the morning, we excavated down through locus to a depth of approximately 37 cm below the surface (about 80 cm b.d.) The summary of finds is as follows:
2/3 "latte" box of terracotta
0 special finds
11 pieces of pottery- 3 coarse ware fragments (including 1 rim fragment) and 8 pieces of impasto
Like yesterday, the vast majority of terracotta showed high-levels of wear/erosion. It also worthy of note, that over a 1/3 less terracotta fragments were found in this locus (#2), even though more earth was removed and sifted.
In the afternoon, we excavated down into locus #3 (the galestra layer), where no finds whatsoever were found. We excavated a 43 cm wide trench along the Northside and a 23 cm wide trench along the Western side (see p.
) Both trenches were excavated to an average depth of 46 cm (112 cm b.d.).
