Drawing:

Grids I-K/25-27 was excavated further today with increacing amounts of orangeware pottery, simialar to the type found in room T-18 [see J. Neils II], being founf in sections I-J/26. The majority of this type of pottery lies immediately west of the western foundation wall of room T-18.

Section J/24.25 revealed two "lower building type" pan tiles, one preserving the legnth and the other having no missing pieces. Both tile rest upon a rock packing. A layer of burnt soil exisits between the botton of the tile and the packing [see stratigraphy ].

Section L-26 provided the first find of the day, a fine grained impasto handle with traces of red paint. Section K-26 revealed a cone shaped orange impasto fragment, probably used as a foot to a bowl.

Work continued this afternoon with the two pantiles in grid J/24-25 being cleaned, photographed and removed [see photograph opposite page]. A cut 2m long, J-K, and 2m wide, 23-24, was excavated to the level of a rock packing upon which the two pan tiles rested. Occasional pieces of bucchero and pan tile fragments were found. The soil directly above the rock packing appears heavilly burned.
