The 20-25 cm. cut through K-L(M)/63-64 was completed.  The soil through this cut changes from a mottled dark brown soil with plaster inclusions to a grayish green brown soil almost devoid of material.  The remaining soil of K-L(M)/64 will now be cut back to run parallel with the K-L(M)/64-5 tile line in order to draw this section.  The K-L(M)/63-64 produced about 1 latte box of pottery, almost all of it from the baulks and surface of the cut as well as about 20 pieces of tile.

The cut to cir. 105-110 cm. in L(M)/68-66 was extended further into these meters as well as into K/68.  Soil in L(M)/66 is medium orangy brown with plaster and carbon inclusion, however, only slightly to the east in L(M)/66-67 the soil change to a darker brown color which extends on to K-L(M)/68.  Pottery is more heavily concentrated in L(M)/68 than L(M)/67 and L(M)/66, however, pieces are more worn and fragmentary (about 1and 2/3 latte boxes of pottery was recovered from L(M)/68) whereas only 1/4 a box was found in L(M)/67 and 1/4 from L(M)/66.  Pottery from K/68 is more sporadic than L(M)/68.

P.M.

The cut to 105-110cm was extended into K/68-66 but still remains unfinished. As excavation extends into the stone pack, the soil becomes very dark brown with infrequent plaster inclusions. Pottery was concentrated in K-L(M)/68 in the area outside the stone concentration, but as we extend to the west, there is an almost complete lack of pottery. The stones of this concentration, since they have been drawn by the architect, are being lifted as this cut progresses northward.

The section of K-L(M)/64 was removed and cut back at a diagonal to run parallel to the K-L(M)/64-65 tile line. The burn layer is clearly visible in the section and a grayish green brown soil runs beneath the burn. Material and pottery was heavily concentrated in the area. About 1 box of pottery was recovered and 2 fragments of a glass vessel were also found in L(M)/64 in addition to several other finds. The section will be completed and straightened tomorrow.
