June 20, 2001
We began Locus #5 in meters 78-80W, 31-34S due to the discovery of hard packed galestra. Three passes resulted in what appears to be the same soil. We are currently 20cm (approx.) below where Joyce Lomas stopped before. No material has been pulled from the area since approximately 40 cm before. The area will most likely be closed tomorrow.
