DAILY LOG
A.M./P.M. 4 July 2013
Excavation was commenced in locus 4 . The area was dug with pick and sorted into buckets with every third bucket sifted. The same method was used for yesterday's excavation of locus 3 . The trench was lowered approximately 7-10 cm. A fragment of a modern terracotta tile was found. This is an indication that the loci so far excavated consist of either a dirt dump or erosional wash. Approximately one bowl (16 cm. in diameter/8 cm. in depth) of small well-worn fragments of terracotta was recovered. Approximately 1/4 latte-box of pottery sherds was found including a piece of bone. In the sifted buckets, approximately 1/2 dozen small well-worn fragments of terracotta was found along with one sherd of pottery, one piece of iron slag and one piece of a tooth.
